Brand selection policy — why which product?
Dr. Oğuzhan Akgül has no sponsorship relationship with any brand. Brand selection follows four criteria: TİTCK/FDA approval, depth of clinical literature, product family (right viscosity for each indication), and our own clinical experience.
Our decision criteria
- Approval status. TİTCK approval is mandatory. FDA and EMA are evaluated additionally; FDA-only without TİTCK is not used.
- Literature depth. Minimum 5 years of safety data, randomized comparative trials, and >100,000 applications worldwide.
- Product family breadth. Distinct viscosity and cross-link profile per indication — one product can't serve every region.
- Our own outcomes. 2+ years of clinical use, no recall history, complication profile we know.
Botulinum toxin brands
| Brand | Manufacturer | Our use |
|---|---|---|
| Botox | Allergan / AbbVie | Primary choice — broadest clinical data, predictable diffusion. |
| Dysport | Galderma / Ipsen | Preferred for wider areas (masseter, forehead) — faster onset. |
| Xeomin | Merz | Complex-protein-free; preferred in patients with antibody risk. |
| Bocouture | Merz | European Xeomin equivalent; clinically equivalent. |
Brand selection does not mean offering the patient a single option; it means explaining which area benefits from which product. We use a specific brand on patient request, but with documented reasoning.
Dermal filler brands
| Brand family | Manufacturer | Clinical preference |
|---|---|---|
| Juvederm Vycross | Allergan / AbbVie | Lip (Volbella, Volift), midface (Voluma) — low swelling, predictable. |
| Restylane | Galderma | NASHA technology; chin, jawline; areas needing structural support. |
| Belotero | Merz | CPM technology; very soft integration; fine lines and tear trough. |
| Teosyal | Teoxane | RHA technology; dynamic-expression areas (forehead, perioral). |
There is no single "best" filler brand. Using three different brands for one patient's lip, chin, and tear trough is normal practice — each area demands a different viscosity.
Product categories we do not use
- Permanent (non-resorbable) fillers — silicone, PMMA. Complication management is near-impossible; no reversibility.
- Cheap "Asian-origin" botox alternatives without TİTCK approval — fake-botox risk profile.
- Open-tube PRP kits — contamination and low platelet concentration.
Patient rights
- You have the right to know which brand and lot number was used.
- You have the right to see the box and hologram before treatment.
- If you prefer an alternative brand, we openly share our clinical reasoning.
