Hair Mesotherapy: Does It Work, How Many Sessions, Who Is It For? (2026)
What is hair mesotherapy?
Hair mesotherapy delivers blends of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and supportive ingredients into the scalp with fine needles. The aim is to nourish the follicle, slow shedding, and support hair quality. It is non-surgical and usually applied as a course.
Does it work, and for whom?
It helps most in early–mid-stage shedding, while the follicle is still alive. In fully bald areas where the follicle is lost, mesotherapy does not "regrow" hair — expectations must be realistic. Candidacy depends on the type and cause of shedding, decided on examination.
How many sessions, how often?
A typical course is 4–8 sessions, 1–2 weeks apart, followed by maintenance to preserve gains. Results are gradual; because the hair cycle is slow, meaningful change is usually judged over a few months.
Difference from PRP, and combining them
PRP is platelet-rich plasma from your own blood; mesotherapy is an externally prepared blend. The two are often planned together or in sequence. Which takes priority depends on the cause, stage, and response. (See our other hair articles for a detailed comparison.)
Aftercare
- Avoid washing your hair for a few hours after the session.
- Skip heavy sweating, sauna, and pools on the first day.
- Mild tenderness and redness are normal.
Bottom line
Hair mesotherapy can help slow shedding and support hair quality while the follicle is alive; it is not a stand-alone miracle. Right candidacy, the right formulation, and a regular protocol determine the outcome — with physician assessment and follow-up.
